We received a video of a skinny dog limping down the road back in October 2017. Upon investigation we found she also had puppies. We convinced the Owner to let us have them since the puppies were still nursing and Ellie was too skinny to provide enough milk.

Shelter life was very stressful for Ellie. She was not happy being around other dogs and she didn’t enjoy going on adoption because she was unsure of strangers. Ellie had food and guarding issues but one of our volunteers fell in love with her and saw that with patience, she would make a wonderful companion. Ellie enjoyed riding in the car so they would go through the drive-through for treats. Then Ellie started taking day trips home with her and eventually went on overnights. The volunteer recently moved and she made sure that she had space for Ellie and adopted her!
