Pesto
Pesto
Pesto along with his brother and sister were found after being abandoned on a back road. They were very skittish, and it took a while to trap them. They had either not had much human interaction, or the interaction they had was not positive. Pesto is a sweet, shy pup who’s still learning to trust the world around him. While he can be walked on a leash and seems to enjoy being petted by people he knows, Pesto is still getting used to life outside of his comfort zone. He sometimes prefers to stay in his kennel, especially when there’s a lot going on around him. With patience, love, and a quiet environment, Pesto is sure to continue gaining confidence and will make a great companion for the right person or family. His birthday is 10/14/21, he is neutered, up to date on shots, and weighs 40 lbs.
Pesto entered the Leash on Life Prison Pup Program in February. His sister Princess is also in the program, so we hope she will help him acclimate. We will share his progress.
Training updates:
2/25 - What a difference a week can make! Pesto was visibly shaking and hiding behind his handler when he entered the program. This week he entered the grass area in line with the other dogs with his head held high. He was relaxed and laid down while updates were given. His handler says he goes in and out of his crate, enjoys watching tv on the couch, and eating dinner with him.
4/25 - Pesto is making an awesome transformation. Still nervous at times but his confidence has come a long way. He has mastered walking with you off leash. Still learning sit due to his leg back problems. Cosequin seems to be helping the issue.
